There are so many spring college scholarship deadlines for students to meet this time of year.
Local scholarships have less competition and should never be skipped.
Here are some places to look when searching for local businesses or organizations that offer scholarship money to area students:
Banks
Credit Unions
Clubs (Lions, Masons, Elks, American Legion, Rotary, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, etc.)
Places of worship
Department stores
Engineering firms
Restaurants
Community Foundations
Fire Departments
Hospitals
High school websites
Parents’ employers
Students’ employers
Remember to apply SMART and impress the judges!

Winning Tip: Students don’t always have to be a member of an organization or club to apply for the offered scholarships. Many people don’t know this and skip over these awards. (Which results in less competition!)
Always read the scholarship guidelines carefully and add the award to your list if you are eligible to apply.
