National Siblings Day – 3 Ways Sibs Can Help Each Other Win College Scholarships

Happy National Siblings Day!

Because it is National Siblings Day, naturally my scholarship-loving mind thought about how siblings can help each other win college scholarships.

How Siblings Can Help Each Other Win College Scholarships from the Scholarship Mom

Parents, if you have more than one child, here are three ways in which the first scholarship-searching student can help his or her siblings:

Same Parents – Same Club Affiliations: The club scholarships that one student qualifies to apply for should be the same for all the children in the family.  This also goes for religious affiliations and church scholarship opportunities.

“I’ve had Monica’s ebooks for over a decade, all 5 of my kids have used her strategies and seen amazing success. My twins have won scholarships from Wendy’s, Burger King and Dunkin. My youngest one is having the best success thus far. She’s a finalist for Coca Cola, Elks, Jack Kent Cooke and Jackie Robinson. She’s won several local and regional awards and is also an AXA Equitable Excellence winner. Monica has been an invaluable source of information.” – E.M., Massachusetts

Same Family – Same Income Level: Unless something has drastically changed in the years between siblings attending college, parents’ income levels should be similar, and income-based scholarships that one student qualifies for should qualify all siblings in the same family. Also, if one sibling qualifies for first-generation scholarships, then all kids in the family also qualify.

Find out more about first-gen scholarships here.

Same Location – Same Local Scholarships: The local general (not based on college choice or major) scholarships that one student in the family applied for should also be put on the list for the rest of the siblings to apply for when it comes time to find the money for college.

Learn how to find more local scholarships here.

Make sure to make and keep copies of all scholarships that each sibling applied for, as this will be a starting point for all students in the family. Keep adding to the list for each student and save a ton of time in the scholarship searching process.

Use the Scholarship Toolkit Organizer and have lists growing that all siblings can use.

Students and their parents who are looking for college scholarship money can easily get overwhelmed. I know; I’ve been there! Learn the step-by-step method that I developed to help my son go to college and graduate 100% debt-free here >>

Can you feel the sibling scholarship love? I can!
